The grave of the soldiers of the Soviet Armyin which Hero of the Soviet Union L.I.Hlibov is buried
On September 28, 1943, during the Kiev offensive, the 167th Infantry Division of the Soviet Army flew the Dnipro River in the Vyshgorod area and organized there a springboard for further offensive by Soviet troops to Kyiv. 155 soldiers who died in battles during this operation were buried in a fraternal grave.
Among those who fought on the northern approaches to Kiev, was the Chief of Staff of the 989th Regiment of the 226th Infantry Division Captain Leonid Ivanovich Hlibov.
Leonid Ivanovich was born on September 20, 1913 in the city of Pavlivsk in Voronezh region, graduated from the school, served in the ranks of the Red Army, and in 1940 graduated from the Odessa Infantry School. At the beginning of the war he was sent to the courses "Shot".
During the drive of the Dnieper and the fierce battles with the Germans, he showed great courage.
During the reflection of the attack, when the machine gun crew went out, Captain Hlibov himself became a machine gun and continued the battle.
Killed on September 26, 1943. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on October 17, 1943, for the courage and exemplary execution of combat missions, L. I. Hlibov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
